Journey’s Jonathan Cain Still A Member Of The Band, Plans To Leave Group After One Final Tour

Journey’s Jonathan Cain, who joined the band in 1980 and co-wrote iconic hits like “Don’t Stop Believin’” “Faithfully,” and “Open Arms,” has announced plans to leave the band after one final tour in 2026 and 2027. Although bandmate Neal Schon initially sparked confusion by suggesting on social media that Cain was leaving the band immediately, he later clarified that Cain is still in the group and that, “We will be touring with Jon all through 26-27 celebrating the music we’ve created.” No official dates for Cain’s farewell tour have been announced as of yet. Cain’s management affirmed he remains committed to touring with Journey for the foreseeable future and plans to retire afterward, potentially shifting his focus to ministry work. Cain’s departure comes amid a history of tensions with Schon, including a bitter court case regarding unauthorized usage of the band’s credit card, and his eventual split will mark the end of a legendary era for the band.
